A New Season

Hey all. It’s been 100,000 YEARS since I last wrote. Er, is that minutes? Oh. Either way it’s been a LONG ASS TIME.

How have you all been???

I’ve been working as bureaucrat. Yes, I now have a FULL TIME JOB. I’ve kept it for 8 weeks now. Wahoo! I’m now at the place where I start counting months instead of weeks.

This has been a huge adjustment since I hadn’t worked for the better part of 7 years. Stay-at-home mom and all that. Actually, untreated bipolar depression was the #1 reason, followed by the sucky economy.  However, I just tell people I had the fortunate opportunity to spend time with my kids (which is true). The first reason (depression) is embarrassing and no one’s business and the second one (economy) sounds like an excuse.

My new job has been…very intensive. Lots of training because what I’m doing requires knowledge of complicated software and policy. Not my favorite but I have two reasons why I’m doing this job. #1. So I can begin to reverse my many years of avoidant behavior and #2. So I can separate from my husband.

But I don’t want to talk about any of this in detail. What I do want to do is show the pictures I took this last week showing that Spring is in full-force. Absolutely gorgeous.

  1. I love the shots of your flowers – they’re gorgeous! Glad to hear about your new job and it sounds like you are enjoying it. Say what you want, but a steady paycheque is empowering! 🙂

  2. Depression is nothing to be embarrassed about. It’s more common than you’d think – quite common in my family too – people just have a hard time talking about it. Welcome back and happy to hear you’re enjoying the new job😊

About Quixie

Hi! I go by "Quixie." Quixie is a shortened version of "quixotic," which means: "exceedingly idealistic; unrealistic and impractical." It's how I described my evangelical Christian faith when I started blogging 5 years ago. Now I'm an agnostic atheist who is trying to find a balance between idealism and reality. I write primarily about my mental health journey (I have bipolar disorder), and I also discuss my deconversion, mindfulness, exercise, music, reading, and other cultural topics.
