My apologies for skipping last week’s post!
My natural defense to life’s difficulties is to run and hide.
We were informed by our landlord that we will have to move out of our rental in June because they want to sell the property. This sucks for multiple reasons:
- a great increase in housing costs for us
- my kids will likely have to attend new schools (let me tell you how thrilled they are by that prospect) and
- well, moving sucks.
These 4 years are the longest that I’ve lived in any one home my entire adult life. Actually, come to think of it, my whole life, being a military brat. Wow, that’s crazy. Anyway, it’s a big change.
And. I. Don’t. Like. It. It makes me grumpy.
What makes me even grumpier than that is that my employer announced that they were changing the shift schedules at work and *snap* like that my schedule was shifted to an hour and half later. Doesn’t sound like much, but it negatively affects my family and my only other option was to work the evening shift. For the past week I’ve tried to make the best of it and looking on the positive side of things, but I’m having a difficult go at it.
So much so that I realized I had to play hooky today and de-stress. I’m a horrible, horrible person. ::snicker::
I’ve got several blog posts in the works. My next post I hope to share my thoughts and experiences on how routines affect bipolar disorder and vice versa.
For the sake of my Mind Palace I decided to start logging and sharing what I’m reading, watching, and listening to every week. So you’ll start seeing this at the bottom of my weekly posts:
What I’m reading:
Ready Player One, Ernest Cline (though I’m not an 18-year-old male geek I think this book is awesome so far – please no spoilers about the movie!)
Moby-Dick, Herman Melville (is this novel supposed to be funny? Because I find myself chuckling while reading it)
What I’m watching:
Max Headroom, cyberpunk tv series from the ’80s (inspired by my reading of Ready Player One)
The Late Show with Stephen Colbert (it’s where I get my political “news”)
Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell, YouTube channel (very cute animated education on philosophical and scientific topics)
What I’m listening to:
Party in the U.S.A., Miley Cyrus (shameless pop)
Chained to the Rhythm, Katy Perry (“woke” pop)
Born Again, Saint Motel (he he…I love satire)
