My son watched much of last night’s Democratic Presidential debate with me. This is the 3rd debate he’s watched with me during this election cycle. Here are his thoughts:
- “Politics is weird.”
- “They keep changing topics and don’t answer the questions.”
- “He [Bloomberg] got wrecked.”
- “They [both the moderators and candidates] don’t let them finish answering the questions.”
When I asked him thoughts about each candidate (prior to giving him my opinion):
Bloomberg: “Boooo. I’m sick of his ads on YouTube. He says things that are too good to be true. It’s like when I expect video games to be really good because of the ads and then the game isn’t any good.”
Warren: “She did good but I feel neutral about her.”
Sanders: “He seems like a good leader to me and he should win.”
Biden: “I don’t trust him. I don’t know why but I don’t trust him.”
Buttigieg: “He’s decent.”
Klobachar: “She’s being defensive.”
I asked him who won the debate and he said Warren because she “wrecked the other people.”
I had rehearsal last night, and wasn’t watching the debate. I’ve been mostly tuned out of politics lately, it’s too upsetting. But we have our primary coming up, so I’m going to have to buckle down and decide which one to support. Of course, whoever gets the eventual nomination will get my support, because any functioning adult will be an improvement on what we have now.
